The 'CheckIt' app is a tool for delivering checklists to anaesthetists on their iPhones. The app is intended to be used for:
•The checking of complex equipment systems (such as anaesthesia delivery systems or heart lung machines);
•The provision of guidance during the management of anaesthetic crises, or
•For more mundane tasks such as the description of an anaesthetist's preferences.
The application has three forms of functionality.
1.It can be used to deliver either single- or dual- tier checklists**.
2.It can be used to author such checklists.
3.It can be used to download a variety of checklist templates from the 'checkit' website.

A single-tier checklist element is one which is toggled between 'unchecked' and 'checked' by tapping.
A dual-tier checklist element reveals an array of sub-elements when tapped. Each of these sub-elements can then be toggled between 'unchecked' and 'checked' by tapping.
Checklists can comprise any combination of single- and dual- tier elements.
