Centrifugal Pump Model

The centrifugal pump used by the MSE is modelled according to the standard 'Pump Affinity Laws'. As an example of the performance of the MSE pump, in the graph below, the stagnation pressure of the pump has been compared with that of a 'Rotaflow' ECMO device at speeds in the range 0 – 5000 rpm. (The stagnation pressure is the pressure achieved at the outlet of a centrifugal pump when the pump is working against a completely occluded outflow and is a measure of the total energy of the system at that particular rpm.)
